Privacy Policy

Pawsitive Dose keeps things simple, local-first, and transparent.

This policy explains what Pawsitive Dose handles, how that information is used, and what choices you have. It is intended to support current Google Play and Apple App Store privacy-policy expectations for the app.

Effective date: June 9, 2026

Who this policy applies to

This Privacy Policy applies to Pawsitive Dose, a mobile app published by Rare Puppers Co. If you use the app, this policy describes how information related to your use of the app may be collected, stored, processed, or shared.

Information the app handles

  • On-device preferences and activity — such as selected theme, selected guided dose pack, themed series, animal preferences, motivation tone, widget mode, saved-card search/filter choices, mood check-ins, badge choices, archive/unlock state, bookmarks and saved cards, reflection answers, visit history, supporter/Pro status, and interaction counts. This is stored locally on your device.
  • Anonymous reaction activity — when you react to a card, the card’s identifier and the chosen emoji are sent to our backend to update shared, aggregate reaction counts. No account, name, or personal identifier is attached.
  • Content reports — if you report content, we receive details of the reported item (such as image URL, quote, author, and category) together with your device’s IP address, so we can review and moderate flagged content and prevent abuse.
  • Purchase information — when you buy Pro or make an in-app purchase, the transaction is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed through our subscription provider (RevenueCat). We receive purchase and entitlement status (for example, whether Pro is active); we never receive or store your full payment card details.
  • IP address — our backend automatically processes your IP address to apply rate limits and prevent abuse, and stores it with content reports for moderation.
  • Cached images and local files — stored on your device to improve performance.

How information is used

  • To provide the app’s core features, including daily content, themed series, guided dose packs, mood-based personalization, animal and motivation preferences, widget display choices, saved-item organization, badges, streak journeys, archive access, and reflection prompts.
  • To remember your settings and preferences on your device.
  • To show aggregate community reaction counts.
  • To review reported content and keep the app safe.
  • To process and restore in-app purchases and your Pro subscription.
  • To show optional reminder notifications that you schedule on your device.
  • To maintain, secure, diagnose, and improve the app.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, Pawsitive Dose schedules local notifications on your device. The app does not collect a push token and does not send remote push notifications. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

Local storage and backend services

The app is local-first: most of your information stays on your device, including mood check-ins, themed series, guided dose pack preference, animal preferences, motivation tone, widget mode, saved-card organization choices, reflection answers, badges, saved cards, streak data, and personalization settings. A small backend, hosted on Vercel with storage provided by Upstash (Redis), powers a few online features: community reaction counts, content reporting, and image delivery. Only the data described above is sent to that backend — the app does not maintain a user account or sync your personal profile to our servers.

Payments and subscriptions

Pawsitive Dose offers in-app purchases, including an optional Pro subscription. Purchases are processed securely by the Apple App Store or Google Play and are managed through RevenueCat. Your payment card details are handled entirely by the app store and are never collected or stored by Rare Puppers Co. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous app-user identifier and purchase/receipt data in order to manage your entitlements. The optional “Buy me a coffee” tip on our website is handled separately by Stripe — see “This website” below.

Third-party services

To operate the app we rely on the following service providers, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:

  • Apple App Store / Google Play — app distribution and in-app purchase billing.
  • RevenueCat — in-app purchase and subscription management.
  • Vercel — hosting for the app’s backend functions.
  • Upstash (Redis) — storage of aggregate reaction counts, content reports, and short-lived rate-limiting records.
  • Unsplash — source of some images, requested through our backend.
  • Pexels — source of reviewed Daily Pawtrait images and photographer/source credit links.
  • Expo — the framework and local-notification tooling used to build the app.

This website

This website (rarepuppers.github.io) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not collect personal information — only aggregate, anonymous traffic data. The website also offers an optional “Buy me a coffee” tip link that opens a payment page hosted by Stripe; any payment details you enter are handled directly by Stripe under its own terms and privacy policy and are never received or stored by this website.

Sharing and disclosure

Rare Puppers Co. does not sell your personal information and does not use it for advertising. The app contains no third-party advertising or cross-app tracking, and it does not access the device advertising identifier. Information is shared only with the service providers listed above so the app can function, or where required to comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, or protect the rights and safety of users.

Retention and security

Reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures are used to help protect information handled by the app. Specific retention periods include:

  • Reaction counts — stored as anonymous aggregates and automatically expire about one year after the last reaction to a given card.
  • Content reports — only the most recent reports (currently up to 5,000) are kept for moderation; older reports roll off automatically.
  • Rate-limiting records (including IP) — short-lived and expire within minutes.
  • On-device data — including mood check-ins, themed series, guided pack preference, animal preferences, motivation tone, widget mode, saved-card organization choices, reflection answers, saved cards, badges, and streak data, remains on your device until you remove it, clear app storage, or uninstall the app.

Your choices

  • You can disable notifications in your device settings.
  • You can clear cached files from inside the app.
  • You can manage or cancel your Pro subscription through your Apple App Store or Google Play account.
  • You can remove locally stored app data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage through your device settings.

Account and deletion requests

Pawsitive Dose does not require an account, and your in-app profile data is stored on your device. To remove your information, clear app storage or uninstall the app to remove locally stored data. To request deletion of any data held by our backend, such as information submitted in a content report, email support@snackpackuniverse.com and we will action your request.

Children’s privacy

Pawsitive Dose is not directed to children under 13, and Rare Puppers Co. does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

International users

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own if a platform provider or service provider operates there.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The version published on this page is the current version, and the effective date will be updated when changes are made.
